Nicole & John

So as the wedding season takes off, one of my first few weddings has come and past. Editing is nearly done and I'm sure Nicole & John will love their dvd! What a great wedding and a beautiful location. I usually make a note to post a couple things I find creative and well done at weddings, and these flowers were simply beautiful :)

Certainly hard to beat a beautiful day outside. Nicole and John seemed to have a blast as well as the rest of the wedding party. It was an absolute pleasure to work with you two and I wish you the best in the future :)

Pittsburgh Bridal Show!

It looks like Light Motion Studios will be making an appearance at this years Pittsburgh Bridal show at the David L. Lawrence convention center downtown! The event is set to take place on March 24th from 11-4. If you have been thinking about videography and would like to meet and talk about what we can do, this will be a great opportunity.

As of today we are now accepting credit cards for payment! Under our wedding package descriptions, you will see the google checkout button. This will allow you to then pay for your deposit via credit card. We also take payments through paypal, as well as check or money orders through mail and cash in person. Remember to verify your wedding date with me before making any deposits.

The Cavanaugh's Expo Experience!

     So the time has finally come and past for the well known Cavanaugh's Wedding Expo, and boy was it a treat! (Quite literally, in many instances as you are about to see)

Snazzy

     Brides from a very large radius descended upon the Wyndham Grand for two days (well, two 5 hour blocks) of wedding madness! As a vendor, I set up early on Saturday and discussed concerns of the weather with other nearby businesses. Word on the street was that things could be slow since not 12 hours earlier the burgh was at a total snow standstill. As 11:00 rolled around and the doors opened, it did not take long for the room to fill up. Quickly a few things were obvious, one being that if you are a bride attending one of these shows, you better bring help, and two - that the Pittsburgh Barbecue Company was starting a rib revolution.

Ribs for eevveryonneee

I have to admit, the samples of ribs were incredibly good, and I'd recommend their catering to any bride who wants to do something smokey and meaty for their reception! There were times when people were so caught up eating their rib samples that they were having trouble walking from booth to booth - not to mention the mouth watering smell nearby vendors had to endure as they mustered strength to avoid eating while on the job.

By 3:00 or so, things were slowing down a good bit and it was time to see about exploring what the other vendors had to offer. Since the beginning of the show, I had been talking and working with Top Hat Tuxedo as they were positioned right next to me. Brad is a real stand up guy who clearly knows what he is talking about and I would have to recommend him to anyone still on the fence looking for tuxedos.

They are as good as they look.

As I started walking around, I ran across many bakeries, dj's, flower shops, lighting companies and other videographers. Most food related vendors had some sort of sample to give away, and who was I to say no? If you love cupcakes, you are going to love Bethel Bakery - their icing on their sample cupcakes was absolutely to die for. Passion fruit? I didn't even know a cupcake could taste like that. Simply delicious, not overly sweet, not overwhelming, just perfect. 

After having a couple of those, I continued to make my way around the showroom floor when I ran into what has to be the most impressive cake designs I have seen in person. Maybe I don't get out much, but I can't imagine any bride being disappointed with works of art like these. Cathy's Custom Cakes must really love what they do to make something so intricate that ultimately ends up devoured! Seems almost wrong to cut into it.

Having talked to Cathy I can say she seems like a great person who really knows her stuff and I would recommend her to any bride looking to take their wedding cake entirely to the next level.

Sunday finally came and we were back into the showroom for one more hopeful day. Friday's nasty weather must have made most brides opt for the Sunday show, as by 12:00 the room was packed with more people than on Saturday. Brides, ribs, cookies, the smell of garlic pasta, a penguin... wait, a penguin? Yeah, didn't expect that? Neither did we. Pretty sure the penguin got more attention from everyone at the show than all of the vendors put together.

This time around I had the pleasure of talking to almost twice as many brides about my services, so I figured it would be best to double my consumption of baked goods.. Total win/win for everyone! Overall the expo yielded great contact between me and potential customers. It also allowed me to meet some great vendors who I will gladly recommend in the future if asked. A big shout out to all the soon to be married women and men in attendance, as well as Dan and Donna as none of this would be possible without you! Here is to a great 2013 for everyone! Good Luck!
